Sebastian Priaulx To Pilot Multimatic Mustang In 2019 British GT

Sebastian Priaulx will make an exciting move into the British GT Championship in 2019, piloting a Ford Mustang GT4 for Multimatic Motorsports in the ultra-competitive GT4 category.

Multimatic Motorsports are the team behind the Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GTs that compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship, with the Multimatic-developed and built Mustang GT4 earning Ford the manufacturer’s title in this year’s IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge.

Following that success, the team have decided the time is right to take on one of the toughest GT4 challenges in Europe and are using the British GT programme as an opportunity to develop young talent at the same time, both behind the wheel and on the race team.

Priaulx will make the move to one of the world’s foremost domestic GT series following a successful season in the F4 British Championship, having secured two race victories and seven other podium finishes across his maiden campaign.

The seventeen year old has been confirmed in Multimatic’s driving line-up alongside two team veterans, Scott Maxwell (CAN) and Billy Johnson (USA), with a fourth driver to be announced in due course. Sebastian Priaulx: “Looking forward to every new racing season is always exciting and for me the 2019 one can't start soon enough. To be with such a great team is something every driver dreams of, and I know I shall learn an awful lot from being part of such a professional outfit.

“The opportunity to race in British GT is amazing. I have seen what a competitive championship it is and know it will be tough, but I really enjoyed the test in the Mustang and I can't wait to get out there and race!”

Multimatic Vice-President Larry Holt: “British GT is a fantastic platform to show off our product to potential customers so we’re excited to go head-to-head with the GT4 cars from companies like Aston Martin, McLaren and Mercedes.

“We have put together an incredible group of people and resources to run the Ford GTs in WEC and will combine those with the North American Multimatic team to expand our racing programme here in England.

“Seb was extremely impressive in the Mustang when we tested him at Snetterton and I can’t think of a better story than bringing on the next generation of Priaulx.  He will learn a lot from Billy [Johnson] and Scott [Maxwell], including how to drift properly!”

The 2019 British GT Championship will be contested over seven events, taking in the best circuits in the UK in Oulton Park, Donington Park, Snetterton, Silverstone and Brands Hatch, as well as an exciting overseas visit to Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.
